Disk read errors may only be dirty disks rather than truly bad sectors or bad tracks and well worth a clean before finally giving up on them.

Simple as: Place your disk into the device, Add a little cleaning fluid to the cloth, place the cloth over the disk, and use the handle to turn the disk. Cleans as you turn.
